Salt Lake Tribune LogoThe Salt Lake Tribune is featuring a monthly series of articles leading up to the Beijing Games next summer. The series features some interesting stories about Olympic hopefuls who have ties to Utah. So far, they have covered three athletes:

October, 2007: Cyclist David Zabriskie

November, 2007: 3000m Steeplechase runner Lindsey Anderson
Anderson is setting her sights on making the U.S. Beijing Olympic Team in what will be perhaps the most exciting, competitive race at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials next June in Eugene, OR: the women’s 3000m Steeplechase. The talented field includes the following runners (their PR’s are in parentheses): Lisa Galaviz (9:28.75), Briana Shook (9:29.32), Jenny Barringer (9:33.95), Anna Willard (9:34.72), Ann Gaffigan (9:39.35), Carrie Messner (9:39.68), Elizabeth Jackson (9:39.78), Lindsey Anderson (9:39.95), Kassi Anderson (9:44.68), Desiraye Osburn ( 9:47.24).

December, 2007:Volleyball Player Logan Tom
Tom is a 2004 Olympian who has had a storied career despite not having won an Olympic medal. Olympic dreams die hard, however, and Tom is not ready to give hers up yet – despite having had a storied volleyball career even without a medal.
